I Have Learned….

LighthouseI have learned that the people we love most in this life are taken far too soon.

I have learned that if you wait to say something important to someone you love, you may never get the chance to say it.

I have learned that sometimes mistakes of the past cannot be fixed.

I have learned that no one is as hard on me as I am on myself and I must work on this.

I have learned sometimes the people you expect to knock you when you’re down are actually the people who reach their arms out to help you up.

I have learned that family is not always biological.

I have learned that even in the saddest of times, light always has a way of peeking in, in little ways if your eyes are open.

I have learned that no matter how great my pain is, the world keeps going.

I have learned that no matter how insurmountable a problem may seem in that moment, that moment will pass.

I have learned that no matter how bad “this” is, “this” too shall pass. Because even when it may feel like time is standing still, it never does.

I have learned that waiting to live and waiting to die are one and the same.

I have learned that avoidance only works temporarily. Eventually you have to face your fears. There simply is no exception to this rule. It is absolute. And fighting it only delays the inevitable.

I have learned that sometimes you have to lose everything to find yourself.

I have learned that what didn’t kill me actually DID make me stronger.

I have learned that when you are kind to others, it eventually comes back to you 3-fold, and usually in the most unexpected ways.

I have learned that numbing the pain also numbs the joy.

I have learned that one of the best ways to makes myself feel better is to help someone else.

I have learned that if I can’t look into the mirror and find something beautiful, that I must look harder….or find a better mirror.

I have learned that sometimes you just have to start over. And that’s ok.

I have learned that perspective is subjective. And not necessarily always the same as reality.

I have learned that life can be a great spectator sport, as long as you’re not always the spectator.

I have learned that we are not meant to live in isolation, nor can we do everything by ourselves.

I have learned that I am FAR stronger than I ever imagined.

I have learned that neither our bodies, our minds, nor our hearts are meant to sit idle. And you can’t work one without the other two.

I have learned that there are two sure things that can always make me feel better….laughter and music. Laughter works from the inside out. Music works from outside in. But both work brilliantly.

And I have learned that maybe my Crazy is my Superpower.
