Think that all of the negative press and pressure from the American public (not to mention to the corporate financial hits) will eventually force Donald Trump to apologize and back track on his outrageous racist statements? Well think again.
In Trump’s very bizarre speech where he announced his official run for POTUS he rambled on about many things but the one thing that has caught the attention of the country, and thus the attention of many of his corporate business partners, was his highly offensive characterization of Mexican immigrants as drug runners and “rapists.”
“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.”
It’s dumbfounding actually that the more disgusting Trump gets, the more Conservatives are flocking to him…but nonetheless it’s absolutely true. Since his highly publicized comments he has surged to the very top of the 2016 GOP Presidential polls.
But because of those comments Trump is paying dearly in other ways. It is being estimated that he has already lost over $50 Million. NBC’s cancellation of “Celebrity Apprentice” alone is costing The Donald approximately $33 Million. Some of his other recent losses include:
1. NBC dropped the Miss USA, Miss Universe, and Miss Teen USA pageants.
2. The Spanish-language network, Univision, also dropped Trump’s pageant airings.
3. ESPN cut ties and took away Trump’s Celebrity Golf Classic.
4. NASCAR dumped Trump and moved their end-of-season awards ceremony.
5. Serta Mattresses dumped partnership with Trump.
6. Macy’s dumped The Donald and removed all Trump merchandise from its stores.
7. Emmitt Smith and Flo Rida cut ties with Trump.
8. PGA of America fired Trump and relocated its Grand Slam of Golf tournament from Trump’s course.
So a rational sane person might assume that with media and financial hits like these Trump would have no choice but to dial it down and retract his outrageous racist statements, right? Well sadly that assumption would be completely wrong. Not only has Trump not backtracked at all on his original comments, but he is now doubling down on them. On Monday he said,
“The Mexican Government is forcing their most unwanted people into the United States. They are, in many cases, criminals, drug dealers, rapists, etc….Likewise, tremendous infectious disease is pouring across the border.”
He also attacked Jeb Bush with a tweet that said, “#JebBush has to like the Mexican illegals because of his wife.”
And being that he is an equal-opportunity racist and all…I can’t leave out some of his many offensive comments about black Americans.
“African-American youth to a point where they’ve just about never done more poorly, there’s no spirit, there’s killings on an hourly basis virtually in places like Baltimore and Chicago and many other places. There’s no spirit. I thought that President Obama would be a great cheerleader for the country. And he’s really become very divisive.”
Whether or not you consider Trump a real contender for the Republican nomination there is no question that his words and sentiments are being welcomed with open arms by a very large number of Conservatives. And because of that, he continues to give unbelievable interviews proudly spewing racism. Here’s a couple of this week’s entries….and the week is still young….
