For gun nuts the only answer to mass shootings and gun violence is always more guns. Well now they are about to have their very own GunTV where they can shop for assault rifles and Glocks sitting on the couch with a beer in one hand and the TV remote in the other.

In the wake of the latest mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, it seems that two things are happening in this country. The good news is that it’s really starting to feel like most people have finally had enough of senseless gun violence and are ready to talk about some kind of new gun control legislation. The bad news is that the gun industry and the NRA just continue to up the ante on profiting off our out-of-control gun culture and the blood of innocent Americans.

Starting in January, gun nuts will be able to kick back and relax at home, order a blender on QVC, change the channel, and then order up a brand new gun or two with a shit ton of bullets thrown in on the side. Ah, American exceptionalism!

GunTV is expected to launch January 20 on satellite and cable and will be filming in Palm Springs, a mere 50 miles from where the latest mass shooting took place in California. And the network’s tagline? “Live Shopping. Fully Loaded.” (Yes, seriously.) The network will start off airing six days a week, and then move to a 24-hour schedule in 2017.

According to the New York Times,

“Buying a Glock on GunTV won’t be quite be like ordering a pizza. When a firearm is purchased, a distributor will send it to a retailer near the buyer, where it has to be picked up in person and a federal background check performed.

It is uncertain whether the channel will add to the enormous cache of weapons held by American citizens given that it is already fairly easy to obtain a firearm the traditional way, whether by the book at a retailer or illegally in a back alley.”
