Following a week of unimaginable violence, hatred, and death, Hillary spoke to a group of AME Church members and delivered arguably the most important speech of this election cycle. If you don’t watch any of her other speeches, you should watch this one.
This has been an incredibly difficult week in America. It’s been a week of watching more young black men gunned down by trigger happy cops and then seeing the unimaginable in Dallas as innocent cops were hunted down and murdered. And for what? It’s just senseless violence and hatred. Surely we are better than this. We HAVE TO BE better than this.
This is a time when we need real leaders to speak out truth to power.
You know, for the past 8 years I have found myself so many times being inspired by President Obama’s words. And as he finishes his second term, I have kind of resigned myself to the fact that he is leaving and taking with him those inspirational speeches. Because let’s face it, Hillary isn’t exactly known for charismatic speaking skills.
But, the more I watch Hillary, the more I’m starting to think that her innate leadership, while different in style from Obama, can be just as powerful.
Friday night she spoke in Philadelphia at the AME Church National Conference to an audience of a few thousand African American church members. And she delivered her best speech of the 2016 campaign. It was full of substance and she delivered it spot on. Seriously, if you don’t watch any of Hillary’s other speeches, you owe it to yourself to watch this one. Every American should watch this one.
The entire speech is amazing and is about 28 minutes in length. For the sake of time, I have started the clip half way through, but if you have the time I highly recommend watching it in its entirety. The full transcript of the speech can be read HERE.
