Who knows what the future holds for Michelle Obama. But if she decides she wants to stay in politics, Hillary is very open to offering her a cabinet position.
Michelle Obama has become known as “The Closer.” She has been working very hard to get Hillary Clinton elected in this last home-stretch of the campaign. And she is arguably Hillary’s most effective surrogate.
Mrs. Obama and Hillary have great respect for one another. That comes across clearly when they talk about each other. And Hillary has made it clear that she supports FLOTUS in any future endeavor.
In fact, in a new interview with Extra, Hillary said she’d be open to giving the First Lady a position in her cabinet.
“She’s made it pretty clear she wants to focus on important issues like girls’ education around the world – she and I actually talked about it when we were together in Winston-Salem [N.C.] – and I want to be the best partner I can be for whenever she wants to be involved in government again,” Hillary said.
“I think she wants to take a break from it, but if she ever wants to do anything like that, I would be the number-one person.”
“Well, I don’t know how anybody could have done what she’s done for the last eight years with more grace and more of a sense of purpose but inclusivity,” she said.
“She’s been an exemplary first lady, and I know how hard that job is. So I feel so close to her and I’m so appreciative of all the help she’s giving me, all the confidence and courage, because it’s hard.”
With all of the attention Michelle Obama has been getting for her amazing stump speeches, many people are speculating that she would make a great politician in her own right. President Obama said last Friday that Michelle would “never run for office.” But I for one, hope he’s wrong.
