Jill Stein Launches Major Push For Vote Recount….And The Effort Is Gaining A LOT Of Steam

Green Party candidate Jill Stein announced on Wednesday that she is challenging the vote results in three critical swing states. And she has started a real grass-roots effort to raise enough money to force the recount.

Stein is calling for recounts in three crucial states that Hillary barely lost….Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania….because of voting irregularities and the real possibility of a cyber-hack into the electronic voting machines.

Stein has nothing to gain from a recount. She only received around 1% of the vote. But Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, stands to gain a lot…..as in, if she really won these three states, she’s won the presidency.

The deadline for filing for the recount in Wisconsin is Friday. Stein is pushing to raise t least $3 million in donations to pay for the effort. As of my writing this Wednesday night, they have already raised over $2 million. You can check the current total HERE.

This Stein effort falls on the heels of last week’s Democratic activists pushing the Clinton campaign to ask for a recount in those same three states. The activists want the votes recounted because the data shows that in the Wisconsin counties that used electronic voting machines, Hillary received 7% fewer votes than in the counties that used paper ballots and optical scanners.

New York Magazine reports that if in fact the Wisconsin vote was tampered with Hillary could have lost 30,000 votes. She only lost the state by 27,000.

There has also been a recount call from computer security experts. University of Michigan professor Alex Halderman says that the discrepancies could have been caused by something as simple as faulty polling. But he is calling for a recount because he says it could also be possible that a “foreign government”….like Russia….is responsible.

This push by Stein to get the votes recounted is ironic really. It could be argued that Jill Stein is partly to blame for Hillary’s loss. If Hillary had received those few Stein votes, she would’ve won the election. But irony of ironies is that Jill Stein just might also be the reason she wins.

The statement put out by Stein about this effort to force the recount reads:

Election Integrity depends on YOU!

The Stein/Baraka Green Party Campaign is launching an effort to ensure the integrity of our elections. We are raising money to demand recounts in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania– three states where there is a┬ásignificant┬áneed to verify machine-counted vote totals. Please donate to this initiative today.

To give you a sense of the problem, the voting machines used in Wisconsin were banned in California after they were shown to be highly vulnerable to hacking and malicious programming due to lacking security features.

“After a divisive and painful presidential race, in which foreign agents hacked into party databases, private email servers, and voter databases in certain states, many Americans are wondering if our election results are reliable. That’s why the unexpected results of the election and reported anomalies need to be investigated before the 2016 presidential election is certified. We deserve elections we can trust.” — Dr. Jill Stein.

This is about more than the results of this one election. This is about protecting our democracy and ensuring that “We the People” can have confidence in reported results.

We need your help to make sure your votes were counted accurately on Election Day. Please donate now to help maintain integrity in our elections. Please donate to this effort to protect our democracy.

This effort to ensure election integrity is in your hands! In order to make this happen, we need to raise over $2 million by this Friday, 4pm central. In true grassroots fashion, we’re turning to you, the people, and not big-money corporate donors to make this happen.

We hope to do recounts in all three states. If we only raise sufficient money for two, we will demand recounts in two states. If we only raise enough money for one, we will demand a recount in one state. If we do not raise enough for any recount (which is highly unlikely) we pledge to use the money for election integrity efforts and to promote systemic voting system reform.
