Today we lick our wounds and mourn for what could have been….what should have been. But tomorrow we regroup, we organize, and we find the resolve to fight on. Here’s how we start….
I have to tell you the truth…I’m devastated and absolutely shell shocked. I am genuinely afraid for this country. I have followed politics my entire life, and I’ve experienced tough wins and losses; but I’ve never felt like this before. I don’t think most of this country really understands the implications of this…I really don’t.
I’ve never been so ashamed to be an American. The Dems who didn’t show up have made a grave mistake.
20 million poor people are about to lose health care.
World markets are falling.
Russia is celebrating.
Who we are as a people.
We are teaching our children that bullies win and that women and minorities and Muslims and countless others have no value. And we’ve elected a POTUS who has no idea what he’s doing, and he has no desire to learn.
The SCOTUS is lost for a generation. I fear this country may have done irreparable damage that it doesn’t even realize yet. We’ve never had a President like this and I am scared and disgusted with this country.
We chose…and we chose wrong.
So where do we go from here? What do we do now?
Once we’ve all processed this and worked through that feeling of being gutted, we need to regroup. It is more important now than ever that we organize and do all that we can to fight against Trump’s bigoted alt-right agenda.
One thing we can do now is support progressive organizations that are pro-women, pro-immigrant, pro-environment, and anti-bigotry. They are our front line right now and we need to do all we can to strengthen them.
Here are several organizations that you can feel good about supporting. And I’ve included links to donate, join, volunteer, and find your local branch beneath each.
