After a very long election and the nightmare of Trump’s win, I think we could all use a little stress relief. In many ways, this presidential election has really brought out the worst in us as a nation….as a people. So how about we stop for a minute and remember who we are.
In many ways, this presidential election has really brought out the worst in us as a nation….as a people. The last year and a half has been full of hateful rhetoric, intolerance, violence, fear….along with absolutely disgusting behavior…and it has been exhausting. Our core values have been tested.
With all of this overwhelming negativity, it can be easy to lose sight of what makes our country great. With so much insanity and so many lies constantly put out by Trump, the noise has drowned out the basic human goodness, empathy, and compassion of our people. But the truth is, there is an innate goodness in the American people. And we have a resilience that allows us to make it through these difficult and challenging times.
Sometimes we just have to be reminded of that.
I have found a really great video series put out by StoryCorps and Upworthy called #WhoWeAre. The series features inspirational stories of everyday Americans. The people who’ve participated in the project are diverse and have stories of extraordinary moments in everyday life.
After a very long election and the nightmare of a Trump win, I think we could all use a little stress relief. So let’s take a deep breath and try to remember who we really are.
Now sit back, relax….and be inspired.
