Samantha Bee and Glenn Beck may seem like an insane alliance, but when it comes to fighting Trump it’s all hands on deck.
On Monday night, Samantha Bee welcomed Fox’s former neoCon lunatic, Glenn Beck, onto her show Full Frontal for a very unexpected meeting of the minds. All decked out in their ugly Christmas sweaters, the lefty comedienne and the righty wing-nut came together for one big reason. Trump.
Now I’m not entirely sure about Beck’s motivations, but recently he’s had a seemingly come-to-sanity revelation….well, when it comes to the national crisis of Trump and Trump’s new Republican Party, anyway.
Beck has been strongly speaking out against Trump since the beginning of his campaign. And I know this will shock you, but he also went after the alt-right Steve Bannon who he called a “terrifying man” with “a clear tie to white nationalists.” Beck even wrote an op-ed in the New York Times defending Black Lives Matter.
Whether it’s for some kind of self-serving purpose or not, Beck is a righty who is fighting hard against Trump. And that’s a good thing. We really are going to need all hands on deck for this battle. Even if that means allying ourselves with the likes of Glenn Beck.
As crazy as the pairing of Bee and Beck may seem, they were actually hilarious together.
At the beginning of the interview Beck said, “My audience would like to stab you relentlessly in the eye.” “My audience wants to kill me for normalizing a lunatic like yourself,” Bee replied.
Once they got talking, Bee explained why she had reached out to Beck.
“I think that our future is going to require a broad coalition of nonpartisan decency. It’s not just individual people against Donald Trump; it’s all of us against Trumpism.”
Beck honestly replied,
“I agree. As a guy who has done damage, I don’t want to do any more damage. I know what I did. I helped divide—I’m willing to take that. My message to you is: Please don’t make the mistakes I made. And I think all of us are doing it. We’re doing it on Facebook, we’re doing it on Twitter. We tear each other apart and we don’t see the human on the other side.”
At the end of the conversation Bee and Beck had an awkward, yet really funny kumbaya moment. Then Bee presented her new friend with a cake featuring Bee and Beck in bed together. And to seal their new alliance, they ate each other’s cake heads.
