6-Year-Old Chooses To Give Up Birthday Party So She Could Feed The Homeless

This little girl could teach Donald Trump and the Republicans a whole lot.

At dark times like this, we can use all the good news we can get. And this is definitely some good news. Donald Trump is not who we are. This amazing family is who we are.

Armani Crews is a 6-year-old Chicago kindergartner who begged her parents to let her celebrate her birthday by feeding the homeless instead of having a regular birthday party this year.

Her mother, Artesha Crews, told ABC News that when the child first brought it up they thought she was joking. Armani’s father, Antoine, told the child that if they did this, she wouldn’t get a birthday present. But the little girl persisted.

“I said, ‘OK, we’ll make some sandwiches,’ to which Armani said, ‘No. I want the same thing we’d have at my birthday party,'” recalled Mrs. Crews.

So Armani and her parents spent her 6th birthday on March 5 making a difference in the world.

The child’s parents say they spent around $300 buying chicken, fish, spaghetti, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, rolls, cake, cookies, fruit and water. And then the family delivered it to homeless people in Chicago’s East Garfield Park neighborhood.

Armani even managed to talk her local church into joining in. Her church donated items to make care packages including a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hand sanitizer and a snack, such as a granola bar.

The child and her family ended up feeding and helping over 125 people on her birthday. Armani told ABC News, “It was nice to be nice.”

Her mother added,

“She was excited. She was happy. Everybody was being fed. …One of the gentleman said he hadn’t had a hot meal in a long time.”
