The House Intelligence Committee has asked the White House to produce any evidence they have showing that Trump Tower was wiretapped during the election. And they want it by Monday.
Last weekend, the Conspiracy Theorist in Chief had another Twitter meltdown. This time his unhinged tantrum included accusing President Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower during the presidential election. And he then demanded that Congress investigate.
Of course, he offered absolutely no evidence of his outrageous claims. But when does he ever have evidence to back up his lies?
Now Congress is calling his bluff.
On Saturday the AP reported that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) and ranking member Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) have sent a letter to the White House calling for any evidence backing up Trump’s wiretap claims by Monday.
According to the AP,
“The House intelligence committee has asked the executive branch for any evidence that would support President Donald Trump’s claim that his phones were tapped at Trump Tower during last year’s election.
A senior congressional aide says that the committee has asked that the information be provided by Monday.
The aide says the request comes in a letter sent by the committee chairman, Devin Nunes of California, and the panel’s ranking Democrat, Adam Schiff of California. Other lawmakers have made similar requests.
The aide isn’t authorized to discuss the request by name and requested anonymity.”
Your move White House.
