Alec Baldwin did double duty this weekend on Saturday Night Live. He impersonated both Trump and Bill O’Reilly in the same skit. And he was absolutely brilliant.
Saturday Night Live was back this weekend, and Alec Baldwin was better than ever. He played both Donald Trump and Bill O’Reilly in split screen and managed to nail both.
The skit mocked Trump’s support of his sexual predator buddy, Bill O’Reilly.
Last week, we learned that Fox has been hiding the fact that O’Reilly has settled multiple sexual harassment suits for over $13 million. While advertisers are now jumping ship en masse, O’Reilly still has one very loyal supporter in Donald Trump.
After the O’Reilly news broke last week, Trump rushed to his defense. According to the President, O’Reilly “did nothing wrong.” The sick irony of the whole thing is amazing. And SNL ran with it.
Baldwin’s O’Reilly started the skit by addressing “the scandal everyone’s been talking about all week, a scandal no one thought I’d have the guts to address head-on, about the shocking allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of power that have been leveled against the Obama administration.”
After O’Reilly thanked Trump for coming to his defense, Trump said, “I actually see a lot of myself in you, Bill.”
“Thank you Mr. President, and thank you for coming to my defense last week even though no one asked you to. You even went as far as saying ‘Bill O’Reilly did nothing wrong,’” O’Reilly replied. “That’s based upon?”
“A hunch, just a loose hunch. I’m more familiar with this case than, say, healthcare, but I really didn’t look into it much, no. I was busy being super presidential, by bombing a bunch of shit.”
I love Baldwin’s portrayal of Trump. But this week he might have been even better impersonating O’Reilly.
