Jared Kushner tried to hide at least two meetings with top Russian officials. He got caught. And now Democrats are demanding that his security clearance be suspended until a full investigation is complete.
Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner is the latest person in Trump’s inner circle to get caught lying about or trying to hide secret meetings with Russians during the campaign. When Kushner applied for his security clearance with the FBI he failed to disclose at least two meetings with high-profile Russians during the transition.
Kushner met with Russian Ambassador and known spy Sergey Kislyak and Sergey Gorkov, the CEO of Russian state-owned bank Vnesheconombank. For some reason he didn’t want anyone to know. But, thanks to the New York Times, he got busted.
And now a group of House Democrats are demanding that he lose his security clearance.
On Thursday, five Dems, led by Rep. Don Beyer from Virginia, sent a letter to the Director of the FBI, James Comey and the Director of the National Background Investigations Bureau, Charles Phalen. The Dems are demanding that Kushner reveal the details of his Russian meetings. And until he does so, they do not want him having access to top-secret intelligence.
The letter was signed by Democratic Representatives Don Beyer, Ted Lieu, Jamie Raskin, Jerrold Nadler, and Peter Welch.
We are learning more and more about ties between the Trump campaign and Russia every day. These new discoveries about Kushner put the collusion investigation even closer to Trump himself. The walls are closing in. And no matter how many big bombs he drops, his Russian nightmare is going nowhere.
