Neil deGrasse Tyson is pissed. And he just publicly shamed Donald Trump and the Republicans for their continual arguments against basic facts and their denial of proven science.
It’s mind-boggling that in the year 2017 we are arguing over simple facts and science. Somehow the truth has become a partisan issue. And so, here we are with a President and a major political party who routinely deny reality.
How can you even debate with someone who can’t agree to a factual foundation about the topic? It’s incredibly frustrating. Especially when one side doesn’t understand that facts are facts, whether you choose to believe them or not.
One of the many scientists who joins in our frustration about this is the well-respected astrophysicist, Neil deGrasse Tyson. Tyson is fed up with the willful ignorance going on with many in the Republican Party. So he’s put out a new video publicly shaming the science deniers.
“When you have people who don’t know much about science standing in denial of it and rising to power, that is a recipe for the complete dismantling of our informed democracy.”
He adds, “I don’t remember any time where people were standing in denial of what science was.”
I’m not sure if the anti-science group really believes the nonsense they espouse, or if they purposefully mislead the American public for political gain. But either way, it’s extremely dangerous and irresponsible.
Tyson goes on to give a pointed message about science clearly meant for Trump and the Republicans.
“It is true whether or not you believe it. The sooner you understand that, the faster we can get on with the political conversations about how to solve the problems that face us.”
