Conservatives are running a new attack ad against Jon Ossoff in Georgia’s 6th district ahead of Tuesday’s vote. Even for the Republicans, this ad is so vile that it’s hard to believe it’s real.
On Tuesday, Georgia’s 6th district is voting to fill Tom Price’s old seat in a special election. This race is the most expensive election in the history of the House of Representatives. Both parties pumped a ton of money in for their candidates. More than 24,000 ads have run.
But in the two days leading up to the vote, a Conservative PAC put out by far the most disgusting ad we’ve seen in a very long time against Jon Ossoff. The Principled PAC used last week’s shooting of Steve Scalise at a Republican baseball practice to attack Ossoff and the Democrats.
The ad shows Scalise laying on a stretcher with the sounds of gunshots going off in the background. The narrator says, “The unhinged left is endorsing and applauding shooting Republicans. When will it stop? It won’t if Jon Ossoff wins on Tuesday.”
The ad shows several negative pictures and videos attacking Dems including one with Kathy Griffin holding a fake bloody Trump head. Then the narrator says, “These same leftists are all for Ossoff. And if he wins, they win.”
The spot finishes with, “Stop Jon Ossoff. Stop Nancy Pelosi. Vote Karen Handel for Congress.”
Following major backlash, Karen Handel finally told the papers that the ad was “disturbing.” But she did not call for the ad to be removed.
