Chris Christie auditioned for a new job on sports-talk radio on Monday. It didn’t go well. When an angry constituent called in to give him an earful, Christie lost his shit.
Apparently Chris Christie thought that he could hide from his angry constituents on sports-talk radio. He thought wrong.
On Monday, Christie auditioned for a new job at WFAN, where he was supposed to fill in for Mike Francesa and talk about New York sports. It didn’t go well. Turns out callers had a lot more on their minds than sports.
The New Jersey governor is sitting at a 15% approval rating right now. And his stunt over the 4th of July weekend didn’t help anything.
Because of a budget dispute, Christie shut down the state government right before the big holiday weekend. And that included shutting down public beaches.
Then, as if that wasn’t bad enough, he gave his constituents a big fat middle finger by taking his friends and family to frolic on a beach that he closed to the public. And New Jerseyans were pissed.
So when Christie went on a call-in sports radio show Monday, he probably should’ve been prepared to catch some heat. But, based on the way that he lost his mind when an angry voter called in, it looks like he didn’t prepare at all.
Just like Trump, Christie thinks that he is above rules and laws…along with basic human decency. But Mike from Montclair didn’t share Christie’s delusions.
Mike didn’t beat around the bush. He said,
“Governor, next time you want to sit on a beach that is closed to the entire world except you, you put your fat ass in a car and go to one that’s open to all your constituents.”
Christie who was clearly irritated by the comments, shot back, “Interesting Mike. You know Mike, I love getting calls from communists in Montclair.”
Mike replied, “You’re a bully. And I don’t like bullies.”
Then instead of trying to defend his indefensible behavior at the beach, Christie went into a bout of the vapors because the caller used the word “ass.”
Christie complained,
“Listen, I’m not the guy who came on the air, swore on the air … You’re swearing on the air, Mike. You’re a bum.”
He added, “What matters is what you do.”
“What have you done?” asked Mike.
Then Christie did what you would expect from a bloviating bully. He hung up on the guy. “What I just did is stop polluting the airwaves with a guy like that.”
