There is no limit to the insanity coming out of this White House. But this kind of bullshit is unbelievable.
On Saturday, a bomb exploded in a Minnesota mosque. Thankfully, no one was hurt at the Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center in Bloomington. But state officials are calling it an act of terrorism.
Since that bombing, Trump has tweeted 30 times attacking the press and Democrats and other nonsense. Yet not a single tweet or statement about the mosque bombing.
On Monday, Trump national security adviser Sebastian Gorka appeared on MSNBC to defend Trump’s silence on the attack. Gorka said that the White House has not commented because they think the bombing might be a hate crime faked by a Liberal.
Gorka said,
“There’s a great rule: All initial reports are false. You have to check them and find out who the perpetrators are. We’ve had a series of crimes committed, alleged hate crimes by right wing individuals in the last six months that turned out to be propagated by the left. Let’s allow the local authorities to provide their assessment and then the White House will make its comments.”
Gorka’s words ring hollow though, considering that Trump has repeatedly responded to other terror attacks and accidents without learning any of the facts first. The difference this time is that this attack was against Muslims.
The MSNBC host pointed out that even if Trump is waiting for a full investigation, he could still make a simple statement condemning violence at any place of worship. Gorka responded, “That’s fine and I’m sure the president will do that.”
But it’s now been several days. And Trump has said nothing. I wouldn’t hold my breath that he ever will.
“I’m not going to give social media advice to a man who won the election in large part thanks to his understanding of social media and to destroy the fake news industrial complex about who will win the last election,” Gorka said. “Hold your horses and count to ten and the president will do what he deems fit.”
