Dem Governor Confronts Trump To His Face About His Asinine Idea To Arm Teachers -VIDEO

It’s nice to see someone finally tell him to his face that his idea is bullshit. Especially with an idea as stupid as arming teachers. Trump may not have liked it. But it definitely needed to be said.

In the wake of the horrific mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida this month Donald Trump has come up with an absolutely asinine idea to deal with school shootings. Trump wants to arm the teachers. He is actually proposing putting MORE guns in schools to deal with gun violence.

This idea is beyond idiotic. It is outrageous. Most teachers want nothing to do with it. But that’s not stopping Trump and his toadies from pushing the issue.

On Monday, Trump met with the nation’s governors at the White House. And one of the governors told Trump the truth about his stupid idea.

Washington’s Democratic governor, Jay Inslee, told Trump that he needs to take the idea of arming teachers off the table. Inslee told Trump that teachers and students and the police are all alarmed at thought of teachers “packing heat” around the children.

Inslee, looking Trump in the eye said,

“You have suggested arming teachers. Speaking as a grandfather, speaking as the governor of the state of Washington, I have listened to the people who would be affected by that. I have listened to the biology teachers and they don’t want to do that at any percentage. I have listened to the first grade teachers who don’t want to be pistol-packing first grade teachers. I have listened to law enforcement who have said they don’t wanna have to train teachers.”

As Trump stood irritated with his arms folded over his chest, Inslee continued:

“Now I just think this is a circumstance where we need to listen that educators should educate and they should not be foisted upon this responsibility of packing heat in first grade classes. Now I understand that you have suggested this. And we suggest things sometimes then we listen to people about it. Maybe they don’t look so good a little later.”

Then Inslee told Trump to take his idea off the table and do a little less tweeting while he’s at it.

“So I just suggest that we need a little less tweeting here,” Inslee said, “and a little more listening. And let’s just take that off the table and move forward.”

Trump is surrounded by “yes men.” That’s why so many of his ludicrous ideas actually get talked about – because no one is telling him “No, Mr. President, that is a very stupid idea.”

It’s nice to see someone finally tell him to his face that his idea is bullshit. Especially with an idea as stupid as arming teachers. Trump may not have liked it. But it definitely needed to be said.
