Fox & Friends put together a panel of independent voters to talk about immigration. Fox has been fear-mongering about the caravan of migrants headed north for days. But their plan hilariously backfired when the panel came out in support of helping the migrants.
On Monday morning Fox & Friends aired a segment on immigration that backfired spectacularly. Trump’s favorite morning show put together a panel of independent voters to talk about the caravan of immigrants headed north from Honduras.
For days Trump and Fox News have been fear-mongering about the caravan. But the people they put on the panel Monday morning all but rebuked Fox by name.
All morning the Fox show ran segments scare-mongering about the caravan. It seemed that they brought on the panel to continue the demonization of the migrants. But the panel didn’t do that at all. Instead they showed empathy for the migrants and said that we should be helping these people.
“There’s a humanitarian crisis taking place in Central America,” one voter said to host Steve Doocy. “And yet, this issue gets turned into a complete political football. There’s very little about what’s actually happening.”
Another voter on the panel quickly agreed and then called out Fox’s efforts to scare viewers about the caravan.
“Treating this as an ‘invasion’ is a bad idea and it’s going to end horribly,” he said. “People have to realize, yeah, these are human beings coming here, and there needs to be a real solution offered in dealing with it.”
