Saturday night SNL‘s Pete Davidson talked about Kanye’s bizarre pro-Trump rant on the show last week. And it was hilarious.
Last week, Kanye West was the musical guest on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live. And it didn’t go well. At the end of the show, Kanye got the whole cast onstage and then went into a bizarre rant about the greatness of Donald Trump. The cast later described it as being “held hostage” while watching an insane meltdown.
So, this week, SNL addressed the Kanye rant on Weekend Update. Pete Davidson said that he was speaking for the whole cast when he slammed the rapper. And Davidson said that he was the one speaking for the cast because he is the “crazy” one who could best relate to crazy Kanye.
“What Kanye said after we went off the air last week was one of the worst, most awkward things I’ve seen here, and I’ve seen Chevy Chase speak to an intern,” Davidson said.
“Then Kanye said that Democrats broke up black families with welfare and that slavery’s not real,” Davidson said. “You know how wrong about politics you need to be for like me to notice? Do you know how annoying that is? Like Kanye is a genius, but a musical genius. Like Joey Chestnut is a hot dog-eating genius, but I don’t want to hear Joey Chestnut’s opinions about things that aren’t hot dog-related.”
Davidson also took issue with Kanye’s comments about being off his meds. Kanye said, “This is the real me. I’m off the meds.”
Davidson argued, “Take ’em! There’s no shame in the medicine game. I’m on them, they’re great. Being mentally ill is not an excuse to act like a jackass.”
Then, at the end, Davidson put on his own version of a MAGA hat that read, “Make Kanye 2006 Again.”
