Obama has been itching to get back out on the campaign trail and, after four long years, he’s finally back at it. He was in his element talking about Democratic policy and shredding Trump and the GOP.
On Tuesday President Obama gave a speech on economics in Elkhart, Indiana, which turned out to be his first big campaign speech of 2016. And it was so worth the wait!
There’s just something about seeing Obama with his sleeves rolled up and back out on the trail stumping for the Dems that feels like pulling on your favorite sweater or hearing your favorite slow jam come on the radio….it just instinctively puts a smile on your face. If Tuesday’s speech was a sneak peak at what we’re in for this fall then the Dems for sure have a not-s0-secret weapon — ready and more than able — in President Obama.
Obama called Trump’s economic ideas “crazy” and told the crowd,
“If we fall for a bunch of okeydoke just because it sounds funny or the tweets are provocative then we’re not going to build on the progress that we started.”
Obama also made the case….quite effectively….that whether you were a Democrat, Republican, or Independent, Trump and the Republicans’ economic policies would absolutely not help you unless you were part of the top 1%. He made a point of saying that it just didn’t make sense to him how average Americans were falling for Trump’s lines or how they could be convinced to vote for him.
One thing is for certain. With Obama back out on the trail the 2016 election season is now officially in full swing. And after today I almost feel sorry for Trump….almost.
