This was definitely one of the funniest SNL skits of the season. From now on, all press briefings must be given by Melissa McCarthy. Happy Easter and happy Passover!
This weekend Melissa McCarthy returned to Saturday Night Live with her brilliant impersonation of White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. And, once again, she was absolutely hilarious.
One year during the Bush administration, Sean Spicer played the Easter Bunny at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. So, of course, the SNL writers had McCarthy give her press briefing in a giant bunny suit.
McCarthy addressed Spicer’s huge screw-up this week when he said that Hitler never gassed his own people. McCarthy also mocked Spicer’s mispronunciation of Bashar al-Assad.
“Everybody shut up so I can apologize. Yes, you all got your wish this week didn’t you, huh? Spicey finally made a mistake.”
McCarthy’s ‘Spicey’ continued,
“It would be really great if the nitpickers could try to see the big picture, and didn’t solely focus on every little slur and lie I say.”
‘Spicey’ then used a couple stuffed animals to tell the stories of Easter and Passover. Of course Spicey’s story was completely wrong. But it was also absolutely hysterical.
The skit ends with Spicey blurting out, “By the way the President’s probably going to bomb North Korea tonight.” And then McCarthy hopped into an Easter egg car and ran over the podium.
This was definitely one of the funniest skits of the season.
The next Saturday Night Live episode will air on May 6 with Chris Pine as the host and LCD Soundsystem as the musical guest.
