Fox’s Neil Cavuto had a great sense of humor about all of the hate mail he received after calling Trump’s behavior in Helsinki “disgusting.” Fox viewers can’t handle the truth, even when it comes from their own people.
Following Trump’s unbelievable performance on the world stage at his meeting with Vladimir Putin this week, he was widely condemned by both the left and the right. Even some of his supporters on Fox were critical.
On Monday, Neil Cavuto called Trump’s performance “disgusting.” He told his audience, “I’m sorry, it’s the only way I feel. It’s not a right or left thing to me, it’s just wrong. A U.S. president on foreign soil talking to our biggest enemy or adversary or competitor … is essentially letting the guy get away with this, and not even offering a mild criticism. That sets us back a lot.”
But the Fox viewers are clearly still in love with Trump. And they took great offense to Cavuto’s truthful assessment.
After making his comments about the president on Monday, Cavuto took Tuesday off. But, when he returned on Wednesday, he was faced with a ton of hate mail from his viewers who were outraged that he said something negative about Donald Trump. And he read the mail live on-air.
“OK, I think a lot of you are still mad at me, and I’ve got to tell you, I feel vulnerable coming in today,” Cavuto said on “Your World with Cavuto.” “Let’s just say apparently I was not missed.”
With a great sense of humor Cavuto read one message saying, “So they finally fired your fat ass.”
“The Chubby Chunk’s been chucked!!! Yippee!! No more negative Trump-bashing from this broadcast fake with the fake hair and the fat neck!!!” another viewer wrote. “Use the time off to atone for your sins and maybe eat a salad!”
“Hurtful, Alexis,” Cavuto joked. “As I told you before, the camera adds 50 pounds.”
