The Twitter Post Of The Year

This is not just the Twitter Post of the year, it is also one of the best Twitter posts ever.

The chaos surrounding Trump, his administration, family, and businesses has dominated Twitter since he was inaugurated – has led to some of the best tweets I have ever seen.

Recent revelations regarding the multi-jurisdictional investigations launched against Trump has inspired some brilliant tweets as 2018 comes to a close.

However, one in particular jump out at me today as I headed over to Twitter to get my daily dose of amusement – at Trump’s expense.

Chip Franklin, a Democratic strategist and award-winning journalist, posted a link to an NBC News article late Saturday night. I had not, actually, been considering posting an article regarding the Twitter post of the year for 2018 – but upon reading his response to that article I knew I had to… I think you will understand when you see what he wrote.

The NBC News article linked in his tweet discussed the news that Trump has reportedly been confiding in friends his concerns regarding impeachment – that: “Despite public declarations that he’s unconcerned, the president has told people close to him he’s alarmed about the prospect of impeachment.”

Franklin, tweeted the following award-worthy response:

“The Mueller investigation is so far up Trump’s ass it can shake hands with Lindsey Graham.”

I thought I would die laughing as his tweet speaks truth to power in so many ways.

And for those of you unfamiliar with Franklin and his career, his online bio is no joke – notwithstanding the fact that he is an award-winning political satirist.

Franklin is a 25-year veteran of talk radio, beginning his career in Washington, D.C., during Clinton’s first term. He currently hosts the afternoon show at KGO radio, in San Francisco. In addition, Chip is an award-winning filmmaker, comedian, and scribe, garnering seven Edward R Murrow awards, including the National Murrow award for writing. He’s also won The New York Festival honors for his unconventional coverage of The Democratic and Republican conventions, as well as more than 30 AP awards for broadcasting, and numerous appearances on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and CNN. He has appeared as a speaker, comedian, and media consultant at over 500 colleges and universities and more than a hundred 100 Fortune 1000 companies. Marc Fisher, senior editor at the Washington Post says, “Chip adds irony to a medium that rarely trusts it’s audience to get the joke.”

I also have to mention an additional tweet I found this morning that runs a close second – well, at least it is in the running for one of the top 10 tweets of 2018.

However, I must begin with a little bit of background. The Los Angeles Times published an article this morning discussing a Friday interview they conducted with Trump’s outgoing Chief of Staff John F. Kelly.

During the course of said interview, the topic of Trump’s beloved Wall arose prompting Kelly to concede that Trump no longer wants to build a wall along the U.S. border with Mexico.

“To be honest, it’s not a wall,” Kelly told The Los Angeles Times, adding: “The president still says ‘wall’ — oftentimes frankly he’ll say ‘barrier’ or ‘fencing,’ now he’s tended toward steel slats. But we left a solid concrete wall early on in the administration, when we asked people what they needed and where they needed it.”

Wow! Just wow…

This revelation, led to the following tweet by former Guantanamo Bay prosecutor Colonel Davis:

“Awaiting @NancyPelosi’s response to @realDonaldTrump’s border shrubbery proposal.”

And I have to admit, I could not have said it better myself.
