On Saturday, Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani made an appearance on MSNBC’s AM Joy, and to say it didn’t go well would be an understatement.
The former New York City mayor came off as deranged. He babbled on about conspiracy theories and couldn’t answer simple questions.
But what really pushed him over the edge was when show host Jonathan Capehart asked him about his dealings with known Russian spy Andrii Derkach. Derkach was sanctioned by the US Treasury Department last week for “attempting to influence” the upcoming presidential election.
According to the department, Derkach has been actively working as a Russian agent for at least the past 10 years. He’s been directly involved in foreign interference with the intent of helping Donald Trump win the 2020 election.
So why would Giuliani be working with this criminal? Why would the president’s attorney work with a Russian spy to dig up (or make up) dirt about Biden? Trump worked with the Russians to win in 2016, and clearly his team is continuing to get help, no matter how corrupt, from Putin.
When I watched this clip, I thought two things. One, Rudy has become a raving lunatic. Seriously bat-shit-crazy. He just embarrassed himself in a big way. And two, the Trump campaign will do absolutely anything to win in November. There are no rules or laws for these people. It’s about absolute power at any cost.
